Cold-pressed juice is made with a hydraulic press that uses thousands of pounds of pressure to extract the maximum amount of liquid from fresh fruits and vegetables. No additional heat or oxygen is used in the process, which means that no nutrients are lost, or enzymes are broken down. Way different than your home centrifugal juicer with spinning blades!
It all began with a single sip while visiting sunny San Diego. Having tasted the delectable simplicity of a cold-pressed juice for the first time, Squish Juicery co-founders, Jessica Clark and Callan Morrison returned home to Port Moody craving more of the gratifying flavors and nutritious combinations they enjoyed with their first cold-pressed encounter. Setting out to discover a favourite from the rich selection of cold-pressed juices and juiceries around the Lower Mainland - what this pair really uncovered was their shared keenness for concocting and perfecting cold-pressed juice recipes all their own.
Equipped with their small home-sized juicer, and on occasion Callan’s ability to “squish” some of the more durable citrus and tropical fruits by hand, the true chemistry of their juice was born. Adjusting and testing even the subtlest revisions to a single recipe in the interest of striking a balance between all the ingredients, quickly transformed their interest into a passion. And so began their mission to create quality cold-pressed juices that are delicious to drink and packed with amazing nutritional value. It was not long before friends, relatives and neighbours were flooding Jessica and Callan with requests to have even a sample of their refreshingly handcrafted juices.
Humbled and inspired by the response from their community, the couple decided to introduce Squish Juicery at the City of Port Moody’s inaugural Car Free Day where they showcased three delicious juices serving over 5,000 samples.
The success of this event echoed the response from all who had tasted their juices. They had something special. Something that would have even the pickiest of kids asking for two and three helpings of their signature green juice “The Intern” (which is loaded with kale and spinach). It is with great pride and their love of cold-pressed juices that they share their unique recipes with you and your family.
